    Debconf module for Isdnutils
Submitted by Anonymous on Friday, March 16, 2001 – 19:18
I think the lack of an easy to use ISDN configuration is a major drawback of Debian. Especially in Germany (that’s where I live) and other european countrys, ISDN is still the most commonly used method to go online.
So is anyone working on a Debconf module for Isdnutils? If not, I would like to help. I could do the Perlscripts to create and/or modify the config files, but I could need help of someone who is confident with Debconf. Anyone interested?
Or should only the maintainer of the package work on such a thing?

    Hello,

Progeny has already declared interest to work on a debconf/configlet frontend, but they need the code to communicate with the debian ISDN system. So if you know a bit or two about the current debian ISDN tools like isdnconfig and/or programming and you would like to help (even if it’s only to provide some constructive comments), than please email me at spark@blue4you.de.
Do you think a sourceforge project for this could be usefull? Maybe someone could make a homepage and/or mailinglist for it.

Well not a debconf module, but it serves me very well and maybe should be in the distro:
    http://www.manna.nl/download/isdn/conf-isdn-account_1.6-1_all.deb

I tested this nifty tool with unstable. And it works well for me, though the configuration of isdnlog stiill needs manual adjustment

I want it too, badly even. Debian needs this, and yes, it should only be used for initial setup, not try to maintain user specific settings

I would like an easy to use debconf module for the simple configurations. But it must not be possible that this tool overwrites my own, more complex, ISDN configuration. I´ve seen such things by yast and SUSEconfig and that was one of the important matters to chose debian.

I agree with You. At least the simple configurations should be easily configurable (e.g. users which simply wanna connect to their ISP).

Why do you mention Yast? This is Debian. Wake up.
Did You ever noticed configurations made by you overwritten?
