KDE3 coming soon to sid? (Score: 2)
by Anonymous on Monday, May 13 @ 01:48:59 BST

Ok, so I got a clue and figured out that no one here has the slightest clue about what’s going on (I’m sorry, but the general tone around here reminds me of elementary school), so I thought I would do the intelligent thing and check the mailing list archives. 🙂

This message by Chris Cheney on May 9th claims that he is building a new set of debs against 3.0.1 and is planning on uploading them to sid before woody is out.

Likewise, in this message he staes that he is waiting until he is certain that all the upgrade problems are taken care of. (I for one don’t want sid to be too unstable, since KDE is my primary desktop and all.)

Finally, a little note to the various package maintatiners out there: guys, I really appreciate your work, and I think that so far you’ve been doing a great job. I realize that you are not getting paid for this, and that you are donating your time, for which I am grateful. But you really need to work on your communication skills. Much of abuse that is being heaped upon you could have easily been avoided with clear communication. It takes very little effort to write a two or three line email stating what you are doing, what the biggest hold-ups are, and what people can do to help. I guarantee that with a little more communication directed toward the community at large, you will have less nasty little trolls to respond to and more time to make pure, wholesome packages for the enjoyment of all.

    Thanks,

    :Peter
