LibraNet scales back, gives away ISOs
Contributed by Anonymous on Thursday, October 04 @ 05:10:56 BST

    Libranet
LinuxToday has the story here - LibraNet are scaling back their operations by reducing their staff, and they've also put LibraNet 1.9.1 up for free download. Check the story for more.

DanielS: Obviously we all hope LibraNet will survive; hopefully they can do so without cutting too many staff members.

This is unfortunate, as I have found Libranet the highest quality of the Debian variants I have tried (Corel, Storm etc.).

Libranet has, in my opinion, struck a good balance between user friendliness and power user flexiblity. Lately, I have used the 1.9.0 release mainly as a stepping stone to sid, due to the extremely smooth Libranet installer.

Giving 1.9.1 out for free is a good idea though, and I encourage everyone wanting to try out a Debian distro to give it a whirl. The Libranet user community and the libranet-users mailing list are very active, and staff is extremely responsive.

I hope they get out of this slump OK.
