when I was talking about windows-feel-like desktops I wasn’t talking about that where u guys went with conversation. I dislike windows, gnome and kde couse they use too much resources. Look at all those wizards. They all are waiting for Audio-CD, automount, etc… Evey wizard is one (or more) process on ur back, and every new proces uses some memory and CPU.

I disagree that GNU comunity tryes to replicate MS based programs. They don’t have to, there are many better programs than similar on Windows.

I think the time is come when Linux will split on 2 sides. One will continue working with Linux like a server OS (Debian, Slackware…) and other will try too port Linux on desktop (AOL with RedHat, Mandrake, Lindows…). I think this second group will fail. Why? MS has control on this area and nothing can stop it now…

Users everywhere don’t wish for a port of MS Office to Linux. They wish for the ability to read and write Office documents from within Linux. If users had a Linux office suite with good import/export filters and that was free, nobody would give two cents for MS Office.

It isn’t the functionality at question, it is the compatibility.
