X is like a piece of infrastructure for a unix system. If it’s not releaseable for all arches, then it’s better to stick with the old one.

For the time being, Branden worked hard on 4.1 until 1st May. Now I guess he is working on getting woody released, as hinted on his page on p.d.o (no work on 4.2 until woody is out). Remember that he is not “only” X’s maintainer.

FYI sid is not a junkyard in which developpers throw everything without proper testing and verifications. People are running sid and rely on it. Yes it actually sometimes breaks, but developpers try hard to limit those problems.

I wasn’t saying that Sid should be a junkyard? But as the names “unstable” and “testing” imply, there should be room soemwhere for buggy releases to be tested and fixed. Or maybe we should rename testing to “not quite as stable as stable”, and unstable to “not quite as stable as ‘not quite as stable as stable’ “? Or maybe there should be a new one called “warning: contents extremely volatile”. Seems pointless having 3 ‘stable’ versions at the same time? LOL.
