Contributed by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 14 @ 08:16:16 GMT

    X Window
There is a new NVIDIA driver 0.9-767 available at
    ftp://ftp1.detonator.nvidia.com/pub/drivers/english/XFree86_40/0.9-767
It has a few bugfixes and supports the new xrender extension with antialiased fonts.

ressu: Great! maybe now it won't kill my machine everytime i use it =)

new nvidia-kernel-src and nvidia-glx-src packages are in incoming as we speak

feel free to give them a bit of bashing, then drop by irc.debian.org and give calc (the maintainer of them) a bashing if they cause a nuclear war between your video card and debian. (sorry calc, but the people have a right to bash 🙂 )

nevertheless, read the readme's included, and making them becomes simple, and no more xlibmesa3 upgrades destroying your install either

(yay RENDER! (now all i need is gtk support :/ )

    crappy Nvidia driver (Score: 0)

IT really hates my chipset or something... I have an old TNT1 board, just so i can play gltron, and it worked fine with the utah-glx stuff w/ Xfree 3. but when i updated to Xfree 4, i had to use the official Nvidia drivers and they so lock up the box.

    Hardware:

PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C598/694x [Apollo MVP3/Pro133x AGP]

VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Riva TnT 128 [NV04] (rev 4).

remembering that the nv drivers that come with XFree86 already support the Render extension (no 3d accel tho).

    cheers,
