Yes, keep the console installation. I just tried Mandrake 8.1 and it sucked. Of course there was bugs in the install, and packages errors.

But… I would like hardware detection, and half-automated x-install aviable. Right now i use progeny as install ‘couse of those things.

I’ve personally had graphical installers _hang_ on several occasions, end result being me cursing and shaking my fist at it, and having to start again.

As bizarre as it may sound to some, i LOVE the console install, as it’s never given me trouble at any occasion. It’s one of the many, MANY reasons i run Debian GNU/Linux, and i personally would love the install process to remain similar to what it is now.

    My $0.75c worth.

Exactly, there’s no need for a ‘graphical’ installer, ncurses is graphical enough for my liking and far less prone to errors. Functionality over style!
