    Article: Quickstart guide to kernel-package
Posted on Saturday, November 18 @ 21:02:52 GMT

    Site Updates
One of the things that drew me to and kept me loving Debian was the kernel-package tools so I decided to write a quick article to increase awareness of this wonderful unique tool and to give you a quick intro into its basic usage. The article can be read here. Enjoy.

More make-kpkg options (Score: 2, Interesting)

make-kpkg clean will clean the source tree for you.

make-kpkg --rev 3:2.2.17-foobar.1 kernel-image will create the package same as make-kpkg kernel_image, but will set the package version to 3:2.2.17-foobar.1. Especially the epoch is useful to keep apt from wanting to replace your custom kernel with the Debian-standard.

make-kpkg modules-image will build and packate the extra module sources installed by alsa-source, pcmcia-source, lm-sensors-source, i2c-source, cipe-source, device3dfx-source, and so on (note you might have to unpack a tarball, depdning on how the above were packaged).
