Problem with gnome-font-install (segfault) Contributed by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 06 @ 02:31:31 GMT
I'm running a testing Debian system on a vanilla 2.2.20 kernel, Athlon Classic. gnome-font-install segfaults in every attempt to execute it with non-informational arguments, and this is bad since it's an integral part of the libgnomeprint-data.postinst script. With a broken gnome font installation, Gnumeric refuses to run, and I want my spreadsheets, dammit.
My first thought was that it might be a problem similar to one I found in xfonts-scalable.postinst where xftcache segfaults with an argument of /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1, but works fine when a trailing slash is added after Type1, but adding slashes everywhere didn't do the trick.
I noticed that cdrecord flagged my kernel as being incompatible with it, since it was compiled on 2.4.x, and something like that is the only other possibility I can think of. Well, aside from gnome-font-install just being broken.
DanielS: That version is known broken, a new one should hit woody soon.
