I'd guess most of the hits are like me... visiting the site to see if there is any new Debnews posted. Normally there isn't but...

I'm shocked and quite happy to see all this hub-bub posted today. Good job crew. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date.

i started lurking here when i made the switch to debian about 6 months ago. i really dig the tips and tricks articles.

although there are rarely many comments, the signal/noise ratio is exactly where i need it to be.

thanks for all of the hard work! it is appreciated!

I really appreciate the news about new install disks for stuff like XFS for Debian. It's always cool to check out the new Debian development news here. I've always appreciated this site since I decided to try Debian Woody after Linux Mandrake/SuSE. I've never looked back.

Debian Planet is the first place I look to find news about Debian. Yes, I come here even before visiting debian.org's site and their weekly news. Well I guess thats not saying much since the news there is hardly 'weekly'.

Congratulations Debian Planet on the 2M hits, and keep up the good work, I've found lots of info here which has helped me fine tune my system, keep it up to date, and add on current applications not found easily, and generally keep me well informed about Debian. Thanks!

So uumm... how many of those hits were asking for default.ida?

No really, I've noticed a sharp increase on my sites' traffic which I assume is due to those nasty worms out there. I've not finallized analyzing the logs so I can't be sure yet.

I was wondering if DP might have been experiencing the same effect. Not that 2 million of hits can be be blamed on worms, but maybe they have accelerated the process...

The worms request the ip address. Assuming dp is configured correctly (server side) they won't show the hits.

At least this is what I've found on my servers. VHosts do not have nimda, etc. hits but the main access.log does.

    FWIW...

You can be sure that it is the worm effect,as more and more users are searching about linux debian.

Well, I check DP a couple of times a day..

I really dig that this site is not just a help forum or a Linux rules site.. DP envolves the community in things like the Hurd, Debian BSD..

More articles on Strange topics would be cool, but I like it here !

Also DP is a good place to start if SID is borked..

(Now if only I would remember to log in...)

So, tell me guys - what would you like to see?

More features, more devel news, more interviews ... how could we make it better?

If you want to contribute an article or a HOWTO, just submit it; if you have a good idea, you can either email myself, robster, or anyone else in the DP crew - or just drop in on #debianplanet to chat about it.
