Our hosted server has been comprimised
by netsnipe on Saturday, July 14 @ 15:57:53 BST

If you haven’t noticed, we were down between 12:00GMT on ‘unlucky’
Friday the 13th and Sat 14th July 06:30GMT. It is my unfortunate duty to notify you that our hosts; uklinux.net were
comprimised by crackers who replaced each hosted (personal and community)
index.html file to redirect readers to the Hackers at Large
    2001 Conference
website. We do not as yet know ourselves whether
our own user databases have been comprimised or not, as none of the
DebianPlanet staff have shell access at the moment to the server and
robster, our main liason with the uklinux.net staff is on vacation at
the moment. However, according to Jason Clifford he wrote that according to
initial investigations, “it appears that no other service was
cracked.” uklinux.net promptly removed the comprimised boxes thus
taking us offline; and built a replacement server. We’ll bring more to
light as the uklinux.net staff get back to us.

    Please note
that our generous hosts and sponsors DO NOT host us on servers
    running Debian GNU/Linux (explanation here),
so don’t take this unfortunate event as a sign of Debian itself being
insecure. If you haven’t noticed, we were down between 12:00GMT on ‘unlucky’
