The copyright-notice says it’s plain and simple gpl2…
    Does anyone know?

Would it be better not to use it? DanielS: Look closer; it states that it may be linked to any type of library (capital-F-Free, or not), as it is currently built for xforms, which is seriously non-Free. LyX can also be “combined” with any other-licensed source code with no restrictions; and it basically rejects any part of the GPL that restricts what it can be linked to or combined with.
