Debian, by virtue of its non-profit, volunteer status, is perhaps the distro that will survive the longest, enduring the lean econiomies that can cripple for-profit outfits such as RedHat, SuSE, or Mandrake.

LINUX ain’t just for programmers anymore, its for USERS. Of course, since its free, no one has a legitimate gripe about missing features. None the less, If the Progeny installer was ported over to Woody, as an option, this would be a good thing. There are thousands of new users who give up because they just can’t get the system installed and all their hardware up and running. If they could, they might ease-in and start poking around, learning the ins-and-outs of system configuration and administration. This is an early turn-off. I admit, that I often question whether I want linux to cater to the MS crowd, but frankly, the more who adopt the system, the more apps that will become available.
