Here are a few handy tips from IRC:

    * Tv has euro in AltGr-e
Tv: The French keymap I use doesn’t have it.
Tv: There’s another French keymap, but that one doesn’t provide Meta, Compose or Menu, so it’s a no-no.
Lo-lan-do: i edited the keymap and s/EuroSign/currency/ and it works …
buxy: I spent two hours trying to find out what file was to be edited. $verbose++?
Lo-lan-do: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/symbols/fr but it’s not a conf file, so you’ll lose the change at the next upgrade
you can copy it to fr-euro and change XF86Config to point to fr-euro
    Doesn’t seem to work…
AltGr+E does nothing, while AltGr+Shift+E does the cent sign.
    Lo-lan-do: xmodmap -e ‘keysym e = e E EuroSign’ worked for me
    Okay, locale problem, it seems.
    Lo-lan-do: Change to -15, not -1.
    Yep. Seems to work.
