Rob and I are currently working on converting our current (PHP-Nuke) based DP site to DPv2 - our next-generation engine. I spent most of the weekend trying to get a test PHP-Nuke site up [<robster> i've turned DanielS into a php-nuke hating zombie :)], and thus I now see why he wants to convert. We've got PERL stuff done to convert the users and stories, and comments are 90% done.

At this stage, our current aim to convert is next weekend or so; this looks quite on-target because I'm on holidays. We'll keep you posted, have fun! 🙂 d

Perhaps this is a bit too late, but while comparing phpnuke with others (ie: postnuke), I found Drupal to offer many advantages while having an extremely small footprint (this could help with the /. effect). You may want to take a look:

I'm not with the project, just thought DP might find it interesting.

Anyone ever follow the 'Stats' link on the Main Menu sidebar? I find it somewhat interesting that 40% of the hits this site gets are from Windows. What's even more interesting though, is that on, Windows users handidly beat out the Linux users by over a 2-1 margin.

How long have you been working on DPv2, and how well is it going to handle the /. effect?

Is there a website for the DebianPlanet v2 software? I found the CVS archive on sourceforge, is that pretty much it for now? I know your aim probably was never to create a website engine for distribution, but it's really great that you have, I would be interested in looking at it. 🙂

Woohoo. Lots of interest, the server will be coming up soon ready for a weekend of code bashing. If you know PHP and are interested drop on by to #debianplanet.

Great, while you're at it, change the friggin color scheme!

The black on win95-teal is a real strain on the eyes while trying to read comments.
