|The OpenVZ Project has released several templates for virtual images, with two of them being Debian 3.1 for i386 and x86-64.
Debian is so far the only non-Red Hat-derived distribution provided, with the other available images being of CentOS and Fedora. All of the images are available here.
The official press release can be read here.
OpenVZ is an open source spin-off project from SWSoft, the company behind Virtuozzo, a commercial virtualization product for Linux and Windows. OpenVZ provides a virtualization method similar to BSD jails, Solaris Zones, or linux-vserver, whereby multiple OS instances run under the same compartmentalized kernel. This method is very different from the methods used by VMware, Xen, or other virtualization products where each guest OS/instance runs its own kernel on top of the host OS.
