Time to crack open the champagne

Debian Planet has breached the 5,000,000 page view mark (according to the stats page). Its been great fun serving you, and like everybody we’ve had our ups and downs, however we couldn’t do it without you, our readers, contributors and downright niceguys. Hopefully the next 5,000,000 are as enjoyable as the last. Remember we are all volunteers, with hectic lives in school/work, and we do this just because we enjoy it, therefore on your behalf can I please thank all the other staff for their hard work and devotion. Hip, hip hooray!!

Heh…. and here I thought it might be the woody release ;-/

Congrats guys, debian planet is a useful place to catch up for those of use w/o the time to read the debian-user and debian-devel lists. Most of my “list-reading” time is taken up by reading the local LUG list (plug.linux.org.au) and answering questions.

5,000,000 hits is a massive mile stone. WELL DONE!
Just out of interest how many hits does slashdot and the like get?

Dunno, but when Taco proposed to his girlfriend, he said that he did it in front of a quarter million people, so that gives an idea of the traffic.

..that the stats page doesn’t show usage of different browser versions. Would be interesting to see how many people actually are using Netscape 4 vs. Mozilla/Netscape 6 these days.

But congratulations on the 5000000 mark, I have been checking out this site almost daily since it started up. Thanks for the great work!

Yes CONGRATULATION!: I am very pleased that the team has reached such a great success and I am a DP estimator (your site is my homepage at work, on my laptop, etc). I have been working with MaX in maximumdebian.org (we are inclured among the Comunity Group links) and most of the news come from Your great source. I hope that we have done a good job for the Italian guys!!! Come on inthis way!!!

What robster’s really trying to say here is: yay me! 😉
Congrats to Rob, Rob, Alp and all the rest of the DP team for such a great site over the years, even if it has had its ups and downs. Judging by the stuff I’ve seen in the pipeline, it can only continue to get better!

Hey robster and all the others:

congratulations and many thanks for DP. It seems to be getting more and more attention from DDs lately and clearly outperforms DWN for news 🙂

thanks a *lot* for the effort and keep on rocking,

    Michael
