Got that latest or greatest scoop? Perhaps you have some important news for the Debian community? Submit a news item!

Or perhaps you’ve written a rather ground breaking insight into some aspect of Debian and you feel compelled to share it with others? Knock up a longer editorial article and send it to the editors.

General feedback should be sent to staff@debianplanet.org

The place to get help on a Debian problem (after reading docs) or to just chat and chill is #debian on irc.oftc.net.

Many of the Debian Planet staff live there so pop by and say hello.

Debian Planet also has its own channel on the same network called #debianplanet.

Due to the time constraints of the current group of staff, we are now on the lookout for new members to help maintain a steady flow of high quality Debian related news. Your tasks would include, monitoring other *original* news sources for Debian related material, looking for nice snippets on mailing lists and idling around on IRC. Ideally you should speak English natively or to a reasonably high level and should have been involved with Debian stuff for about a year. Interested? Contact staff@debianplanet.org for more details.

I would be delighted to contribute whatever I can. It is the least I could do for a web site that has helped me since I first tried Debian. I think my stuff would be more education or Debian jr. related, though. Thank you for the kind offer, Rich

First I heard about this was when I saw a flood of mails in my inbox all offering help; seemed like too much of a co-incidence to be true. 😉

That said, we do desperately, desperately need help. I have no time whatsoever (anyone got a spare 30 hours per day?), and robster and Robot101 are very busy with various things. If you can help, please do.

I tried to get a couple of good writers in a couple of months ago, but nooo … ah well. Respond to this. Make DP better.

    🙂 d

    Subject: weekly application review?

I’d love to do some kind of a weekly review on an obscure or new application. I know that’s not strictly community news, but I think it would have wide appeal. I often just randomly search through the package directory and find new apps and projects that I never knew existed that do precisely what I need, then go squealing off like a schoolgirl to tell my other debian friends about it..

A package of the week (pow) section in Debian Weekly News is in the pipeline, look for it to go live later this month. If you’re interested in helping with that email me at andrel@u.arizona.edu

Punt me some decent guidlines on what you want and I’m sure I can get the odd news item for you, particularly if you want community news.
