It is substantially more stable, supports various gfx cards not supported by 4.1, and supports more acceleration features of supported cards.

I’m running 4.2 on my laptop with a back-ported CVS neomagic driver (for Xv support). X used to crash (SIGSEGV) every few days, but it’s totally solid now.

[4.2] is substantially more stable, supports various gfx cards not supported by 4.1, and supports more acceleration features of supported cards.

If he’s happy with 4.1, though, none of those are likely to be things he cares much about. I know that I have no problems with 4.1’s stability, nor do I really need more acceleration than I already have for my g400. I am curious if there are any interesting new features in 4.2, but I get the feeling that there’s not.

Would you be willing to share this Neomagic driver with Xv support?
