GNOMEThanks to the 5 people who posted in info and links about this. GNOME 2 released yesterday, the details are here. Thankfully Debian’s GNOME maintainers have been working away on these packages in the experimental archive of Debian, so as shown by Christian Marillat’s daily status reports, a lot of the packaging work is already done. Bastien Nocera (hadess) has released instructions for getting these GNOME 2 packages going on your Debian box. Great work folks!

    Hi mlei,
I tried to install gdm 2.4 from your site. I have debian sid installed and gnome2 working one week ago (from experimetal sources).
I can’t be able to install your gdm package. The message is that I have libpam0g 0.72 and the gdm2.4 needs 0.75 version.
    here you have the log:
    dpkg -i gdm_2.4.0.0-0.1_i386.deb
(Leyendo la base de datos …
72543 ficheros y directorios instalados actualmente.)
    [ return ]

apt-get the libpam0g from experimental, and then try installing the package. Good luck!
